The Texas Pete hot sauce has changed very little since its introduction in 1929. Its brand mascot, Pete, is a bright red, cartoonish cowboy in mid-crack of his whip, and the overall branding/packaging has a nostalgic feel.

Instead of updating the mascot and the existing branding, creative agency McKinney embraced the client’s campy character and brought Pete to life. In a new series of brand extension ads, a bright red, faceless, and slightly creepy Pete bursts into picnics, dinner parties, and TV-tray suppers to deliver his namesake sauce to grateful customers.
