KFC’s Colonel Sanders lost his moustache to mark the November 1 start of Movember, a month in which participants raise money for charity by shaving off and growing back their moustaches. But his new look only lasted one day: the Colonel’s moustache was completely grown back on November 2.

Tired of renting space, graphic design studio thonik spent 12 years to design and construct its own building. Studio designers created bright, spacious offices on a relatively small site. But it was its choice of surface design brought the site and architecture together.

From an article in Metropolis magazine: “The high-contrast graphic pattern on its facade is just one of many references to its owners’ profession, and adeptly straddles the line between whimsy and sophistication. An homage to the quasi-psychedelic trilinear typeface that was designed for the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, the graphic pattern is a combination of horizontals, verticals, and diagonals that balance out a multitude of floor-to-ceiling windows and an external staircase. ‘The graphic skin brings rhythm and balance to the architectural elements,’ explains [one of the studio’s founders Thomas] Widdershoven.
