New IDs Take Flight…

By Cathy Lane | Mar 25, 2019

London City Airport, The Australian Space Agency, and Design agency Imagination all have a new identity.

  • London City Airport has a new identity that reinforces its status as the airport at the heart of the city and at the center of personal and business travel. The logo itself as a heart at its center and is remarkably brighter in its color and personality than the previous mark.

The vibrant blue used in the new logo is a nod to London's historic Royal Docks, close to the River Thames and nearby the airport. Bright green represents the city's many parks and green spaces. The new system was created by the London agency The Allotment.

  • The Australian Space Agency has a remarkable new logo that at first glance looks like the shape of the Australian land mass. But the design is actually looking in the opposite direction—toward the sky. It is composed of dots that outline ancient indigenous constellations that can be seen in the Australian skies.

An excellent video that explains the design can be seen at https://www.transformmagazine.net/articles/2019/australian-space-agency-s-new-logo-draws-on-australian-skies-to-build-brand-identity/

  • Design agency Imagination has created a new identity for Turkish Airlines that maintains the company's high–flying mascot goose,  but which eliminates the blue used in its previous logo in favor of varying shades of red. Also part of the new design are seven waves,  which represent the world's seven continents.
