Everything old is new again
• The Golf Channel has a new/old logo. Another fragment left over from Comcast’s dissection of its NBC property, the channel will now be part of a new group, Versant. As a result, the NBC peacock has been removed and was replaced by the circle-G that was first used when the channel was founded in 1995. This version of the G is flat, without any of the shine or gradient used in previous versions.
The preexisting Golf Channel font will still be in use.

• CBS Evening News has returned to its use of the Didot typeface in a new/old logo. Lou Dorfsman introduced the use of Didot in combination with the CBS eye logo in the late 1960s, another era when the importance of an independent and reliable press truly came to the fore.
The throwback design is a clear reference to the program’s heritage and meant to inspire viewer trust during another time when the importance of the fourth estate could not be more crucial.
