Catskills hotel The Henson and its sister restaurant, Matilda, are centered on an organic garden as well as on the nature of the Catskills region. Creative firm Saint Urbain used that connection with the outdoors in a playful new identity for Matilda.
From the design firm’s website: “We created a sweet yet self-assured rabbit to serve as Matilda’s emblem. Representing a playfulness and certain agility, the rabbits of the Catskills easily maneuver the often-treacherous landscape to uncover (and devour) the best things that grow in the region. The resulting design [lets you know that] the chefs here know how to procure the best of the Catskills and put it on a plate.”
The year 2025 marks the 250th birthday of beloved author Jane Austen, whose home will no doubt become an even more popular tourist attraction. Pentagram created an elegant JA monogram for the home in 2020. Now, the design firm has created an enhanced logo to mark the landmark birthday.
From a PRINT article on the new design: “The design features a Blush Noisette rose, reminiscent of the one adorning the house’s doorway, alongside an oak leaf and acorn inspired by a Wedgwood dinner service Austen once praised. The ‘Chawton Leaf’ pattern, found in the dining room wallpaper and dating back to Austen’s time, also plays a key role, weaving history into this fresh, visually enchanting identity.”
