• As announced earlier this year, designer Gerald Barney’s 1965 double-arrow British Rail logo has been resurrected as the brand mark for Great British Railways, the UK’s new nationalized rail company. Some trains and stations now have the new/old identity in place; the full roll-out will take place in spring 2026.

• A social media startup, Operation Bluebird, has applied to the U.S. Patent and Trademark office for use of identity elements abandoned by the company once known as Twitter, including the name “Twitter” and the word “tweet.”
An intellectual property lawyer not connected with the situation said this would be
“an interesting test as to whether or not X will invest in protecting a brand that they no longer want to use.”
