With wide expanses of land so precious and so expensive, creating a new golf course—or even maintaining an existing one—can be completely out of reach. And for golfers, playing 18 holes, whether walking or riding in a cart, can be very time-consuming. Enter Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL), a virtual game played indoors. Players drive into a huge interactive screen, but chip and putt on a real fairway and green. TGL will launch on ESPN in January 2025 and is predicted to be more accessible version of the ancient game. At this writing, there are six clubs across the United States, including Atlanta, Boston, Jupiter (FL), Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York.
Landor has created a new identity for the New York Golf Club. Luke Melloy and his team used the New York state bird, the Eastern bluebird, as the identity mascot. The stripes on the birds wing represent the grooves on the face of a golf club and reference the four players who are on each team. In the logo, the bird sits inside a circle, a common scorecard notation that symbolizes a birdie, the covetable score of one under par.
