The right logo for human rights?

A whole raft of social agencies and design concerns have gotten behind a crowdsourced effort to devise a single logo that is intended to represent human rights the world round.

As with all such competitions, that squishy spec sensation is present (although cash prizes are offered for winners). And though the intent is admirable, it's impossible to force the general world population to accept any design as iconic—that's something only time can accomplish—so it may end up being a thought-provoking but otherwise impotent exercise. But hey—where else can you get your work judged by jurors that include not only Javier Mariscal and Erik Spiekermann but also Jimmy Carter and Michail Gorbatschow as well?
