Open Develops Identity for National Multiple Sclerosis Society
Open, of New York City, has developed an identity for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society that speaks volumes. The disease stops people from moving, but the Society's logo was designed to do exactly the oppositenever stop moving.
Multiple iterations of the letters MS are hit with heavy, black strike-outs and scribbles. It's a defiant and active statement against the disease that remains consistent through the bold typography and hand-drawn nature of the line. That line also clearly shows that real human beings are involved in the on-going fight.
But the human involvement goes even further than that: By visiting www.jointhemovement.org (site design by Ripple Effects Interactive) and clicking on Make Your Mark, anyone interested in making their statement against MS can graphically strike the disease out for themselves. New logos are then added to The Wall, where all contributions to the site can be viewed. To date, more than 4,000 individual statements have been posted.
