Marketing the Marketer

Adaptive logos

Collins and R/GA have partnered with Mailchimp’s inhouse brand team to update the email marketing platform’s identity.

Brand mascot-monkey Freddie has been simplified for better reproduction at a variety of sizes, and the original design’s script face has been replaced with Cooper Light, a font with plenty of personality and openness. Also, MailChimp’s name is now Mailchimp.

Most noticeable in the new brand is the bright yellow used throughout the system; it’s complemented with a healthy palette of accent colors. Playful, eccentric sketches also populate the system, created by different illustrators. They are loose, diverse, and imaginative, and they may speak clearly to the creativity of the company’s clients, most of whom are looking for inspiration in creating their own marketing.
