A Peek at the Miami Dolphins' New Logo

On April 25, the Miami Dolphins will unveil a new team logo and uniform. Here is a sneak peek on SB Nation. It appears as though the new logo will be less cartoon-like, leaving behind its M-stamped helmet, which until now has crowned the dolphin's head.

I feel this new look is too simplified for a sports team. And where is the Aggressiveness? Too tranquil, more suited to a save the dolphins group.

Seems every year some team is getting a new logo. Are people not aware that it's just one huge marketing gimmick aimed at making them spend more of their hard earned money on ridiculous sports ephemera that will just change again? I suppose if the suckers keep buying they'll keep justifying the need for new team logos. It's a shame logo design doesn't stand true to the timelessness created by guys like Saul Bass, Mossimo Vignelli, or Ivan Chermayeff anymore. The goal is about how to make more money. Props to the classics like the Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys, and Cleveland Browns who have stayed relatively unchanged for decades. I can respect that.

Go Miami SeaWorld?! It's unfortunate they lost so much personality with their new mark. There are quite a few pro teams out there that needed a facelift before Miami.

I think that it's difficult to take a mascot based on an animal that is universally embraced as "Flipper" and make it aggressive/terrifying. No NFL franchise has the shark as it's logo yet and that would have been a better option for the long run.
