Verizon’s V-shaped checkmark has been replaced with a simple letter V with a whole lot happening at its center. Detractors immediately pointed out the new logo’s similarity to the Netflix logo, but this folded-ribbon effect has been used in identities for many years.
Verizon’s folded logo is used in new and unique ways. The core icon has a glow emanating from its valley, suggesting promise, power, growth, or even a glowing screen. Other uses of the V include its use in patterns, as an arrow, and as a dimensional doorway through which imagery emerges.
