The faceted chrome logo that Suzuki has applied to its vehicles for the past 20-some years has been flattened out, just like the logos of so many other car companies, for the exact same reasons: it will display better in digital applications, and it looks more modern. Suzuki management also notes that using silver paint rather than chrome is more environmentally friendly.
The announcement provides the opportunity to look back to Suzuki’s very first logo, which was created in 1909 as a very modern interpretation of the Kanji character for the name “Suzuki.” This highly illustrative design was built from a pair of mirrored eagles or other birds of prey, their bodies and wings forming the letter S. The logo would have been very progressive for its time, and in fact, it survived until 1958.

In addition to the elegance of its illustration, the design’s typography is especially noteworthy. Its modernity has allowed it to remain almost unchanged even in the new 2025 rendition.
