Untold is a journaling app that allows you to speak rather than write your thoughts (although you can switch to writing mode). The app responds with insights and questions, and it can chart prevalent moods and responses. Like all journals, it’s capturing very personal emotions and memories.

It’s new logo, by design agency The Working Assembly, is a lovely, undulating mark that can be read in several ways: as an “Un” monogram, as a fanciful infinity symbol, a sine wave of emotions, or even an intriguing design you could use for meditation. The wordmark is equally interesting, knitting the “u” and “n” together into one forward- and backward-looking character.

The branding also includes an entire of suite of painterly illustrations that capture quiet, contemplative moments that feel very personal—but they are all AI-generated. A Creative Boom article covering this project examines the ongoing push/pull of when using AI is appropriate, especially for such an emotionally charged product. (A second article, in which The Working Assembly’s founder explains why they used AI for this project can be found at https://www.creativeboom.com/insight/i-questioned-twas-use-of-ai-illustration-in-a-branding-project-heres-their-fascinating-response/.)
