NASA has had a bit of an unintentional split identity since 1974 when design firm Danne & Blackburn proposed the agency’s now-famous worm logo to replace NASA’s retro meatball logo. But the replacement wasn’t absolute. In fact, in 1992, a NASA administrator brought the meatball back. But the worm refuses to go away, at least in the mind of the public.
