The client owns two very different butcher shops: one in a newer, budget-conscious neighborhood and the other in an established, well-fixed district. Studio Blackburn created an identity that could cover both with wit and the confidence a food purveyor absolutely must convey.

The Standard location was assigned a bold orange, while the Village shop got an elegant green—almost complimentary, but off just enough to be interesting. The “Ellis Butchers” wordmark is set in a close-knit sans serif; “Standard” is also set in the sans serif, while “Village” is set in a friendly serifed face.

The stars of the show are a whole team of “meat characters,” each basically a cut of meat with legs. They cavort throughout the identity, adding charm and plenty of customer connection.
