• Barcelona-based Hey Studio has created a new identity for Rainbow Wool, a German company that harvests wool from gay rams (1 in 12 sheep are gay—who knew?—and since they can’t be used for breeding, they are often killed). The wool is used to support LGBTQIA+ projects around the world.

The rainbow-themed identity is an easy match to social sexual identity themes, but it’s also a smart tie-in to wool, which also has a softly rounded shape.

• London’s Petticoat Lane is one of Britain’s oldest surviving markets, dating back to the 1600s. Long associated with fabrics, fabric dyeing, and clothing, the market became a center for fashion up until the 1960s, but after that period, customer interest waned.

A vibrant new identity, created by design agency The Workman, brings back the heritage and excitement of the area. The new branding centers around a new typeface called Petticoat Sans, a hand-crafted font made from letters cut from fabric. The letterforms are slightly irregular and have frayed edges here and there. The zigzag cut made by pinking shears also provides additional texture, and color is provided by vibrant fabric patterns.
