Brand updates continue to roll out from Comcast’s recent separation of properties. , such as using a vertically oriented feather shape like a map location pin.
According to a recent news article, “Most entertainment programming now starts with a quick view of three layers of the [feather] shape opening into a scene, while a monochromatic NBC peacock unfolds in the middle.” This animation is very quick, but its repeated use on many shows quickly embeds that feather shape in the mind.
The full NBC peacock shape hasn’t gone anywhere: it continues to be used in many applications. But using the feather as a brand extension could perhaps point toward new and more flexible identity directions for the company.
