The Lufthansa Group is a familiar name in air travel, but its scale is mostly unknown. It is the fourth-largest airline group in the world in terms of revenue and fleet size. It operates five national airlines— Lufthansa Airlines, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and ITA Airways—as well as other private travel-oriented airlines, Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa Technik, and more than 300 subsidiaries and affiliated companies.
The Group’s new parent identity retains its familiar flying crane mascot, but the symbol has been removed from its bounding circle. The wordmark is reproduced in a stylized, all-caps font that mimics shapes found in the crane. A new color palette, which represents the colors found in the layers of a sunrise or sunset, was selected to symbolize the diversity of the many members in the Lufthansa Group. Under the revised umbrella identity, members of the Group will keep their own identities.
