• California Pizza Kitchen celebrated its 40th birthday with a mid-life crises marketing stunt that threw out its familiar, friendly, sunny yellow branding and replaced it with a dark and glittery rave mode.  The temporary marketing ploy played well on social media, although it probably gave some fans a real dose of anxiety.

• In an effort to grow the Wonder brand, owner Flower Foods have extended the bread company’s line into snack cakes. The familiar bubble-based Wonder identity is used on the new products, with color variations to distinguish different varieties.

• Design agency Someone created new branding for Co-op last summer and has extended that branding into Peckish, a new Co-op delivery service. The store’s brand blue and solid typeface are included in the Peckish brand, but the type is now italized—suggesting speed—and a bite has been taken out of the “h” at the end of the name.
