(Fun fact: the Cubs were the first team to wear a powder-blue road uniform in 1941.)

The new uniform is replete with history, including an extended red C that is a throwback to the team’s early- to mid-1900s logo. But it’s the blue color itself has become a branding element, as Chicago is also known as the home of the blues. Nods to the music genre include a sleeve patch with the word “Chicago” in the shape of a guitar pick; on-field socks decorated with “Sweet Home Chicago” and a six-string guitar stripe; and blues-era typography used for the players’ names and numbers.

An early fan favorite is a bear holding a guitar, another throwback to an old team logo that featured a bear holding a bat. It was evidently created for an event but may well turn into the symbol that leads the new system in the hearts of Cubs disciples.
