Free the Birds, a design firm who specializes in health and beauty brands, has a new identity that reflects its core value, “Beautiful Thinking.” The “ftb.” lettering beautifully reveals a little bird, its head turned toward something new and its tail fanning out exapansively. This period at the end of the mark elegantly repeats the shape of the bird’s eye.

The agency’s name comes from the story of Leonardo da Vinci, who would purchase caged birds for sale in Florentine markets and release them just for the pleasure of liberating them.

Minnetonka mocs have carried a misappropriated Indigenous thunderbird symbol for 59 years. Now the beaded symbol has been updated by a Native American artist who will earn royalties from each sale.
