A chance encounter led designer Diana Graham to what she describes as a once-in-a-lifetime project. While moving into a new building, she happened to meet the building’s owner, who is also the owner of a major car company. Once he became more familiar with her work, he presented her with a rare opportunity: to design a new logo for a high-performance car.

“A car logo is a holy grail, a lasting symbol seen on roads, engine blocks, and in showrooms,” Graham says. “As always, I began with pencil and paper. Dozens of sketches captured early ideas—many now featured in the brand’s video at bovensiepen.com. The Bovensiepen name, rooted in racing thanks to [company founder] Burkard Bovensiepen, posed a global branding challenge. We found the answer in a bold visual: the double ‘B’, standing for Bovensiepen, Buchloe—where the cars are made—and Bavaria itself.”

Once the mark was set, she crafted a custom typeface to match the mark’s strength and clarity.
Munich-based KMS TEAM then led the full brand rollout, launching the car in May against the stunning backdrop of Lake Como. “For me, it was a design milestone—proof that the most powerful work still begins with a sketch and a conversation,” Graham says.
