The revamp is meant to signal the organization’s evolution from  traditional educational publisher to a “digital-first, student-centered learning company grounded in research.”

The company’s previous logo was more of a monogram. The letters M and L are visible in the sine wave-like or fluttering flag-like design. The new design is built from overlapping shapes built from rays that are emanating from an open window at the center. The company explains that the design is meant to capture the energy, motion, and connection gained through learning.

The overlapping red and blue lines create a third color, an energetic purple or bright blue, that is also used in the wordmark.
