The name comes from the Latin root word “stello,” which means “to brighten with stars.” The new name was announced in July 2020, but the addition of the rings of stars to the space age-like type is new. Likely the stylized A and circle of stars could be used separately as an icon or other corporate mark.

From a company press release: “The logo symbolizes the rich heritage of Stellantis' founding companies and the unique combined strengths of the new group's portfolio of 14 storied automotive brands, as well as the diverse professional backgrounds of its employees working in all of the regions."

The brands grouped under the new name are Ram, Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Abarth and Lancia brands, and the French company's Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Vauxhall and DS brands. View the animated logo at
