It took eight years, but the refreshed identity Pentagram partner Paula Scher created for the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation has now been implemented in almost all of the city's parks, playgrounds, and recreation facilities.
As is common in public spaces that have been created and evolved over many years, there had been myriad styles, colors, and sizes of signage in play throughout the system. The new scheme streamlines information in a consistent, predictable manner, allowing the facilities themselves to shine without lots of visual clutter.
