UPM is part of Universal Music Group, which also owns such iconic labels as Abbey Road Studios, Capital Music Group, Decca, EMI, Virgin, and Motown. Its many holdings form a music catalog especially crafted for use in movies, video, and other media.
At present, the parent company has not offered many details on the new identity, but the colorful design clearly reflects the emotional nature of music, especially as it is experienced in the movies, where UPM’s products are often enjoyed. In lock-up mode, the design also mimics the size and nature of a movie/TV/digital media screen.
A UPM press release suggests the design also reflects the refreshed capabilities of its new website: “Inspired by popular streaming platforms, the new website allows users to seamlessly search and discover music, save playlists, and collaborate and share directly. This new approach offers customized service based on specific user requirements, fostering state-of-the-art creativity and collaboration.”
