Some look to gardening for exercise or for social connections. Some people garden only inside, while others prefer to work out of doors.
Online garden product and plant supplier Sproutl needed an identity that any sort of gardener could identify with, plus a plan that would allow the new company to grow.
Design firm Omse developed a wordmark that essentially can grow anything that customers might want, anything from flowers and trees to indoor plants and veggies. The designers worked with illustrators to develop still and animated art that shows plants growing around and sometimes through the logo. The diverse art styles add life, color, and interest to the identity, just as plants add the same to life.
The Sproutl icon is a set of cotyledons, the first leaves produced by plants after they seed. The simple form definitely suggests success for the gardener—a flourishing plant—but the shape also suggests the wings of a butterfly or bird and perhaps the soaring mood of a gardener doing what he or she loves.
