- Wolff Olins has created a new identity for Lafayette Anticipations, an unconventional art gallery that celebrates making and creating as much as the final artistic product. The new design literally appears unfinished or in motion, as if it itself was still under development.
At the center of the design is a bespoke typeface created by Colophon. From the Wolff Olins website: “Letters are cropped in a random way, giving a sense of constant motion even when static—an homage to the building it graces. We developed an algorithm that means the same word yields different combinations each time it’s typed. It’s a feat of design, maths and code, used across print, digital and signage to great effect.”
- BBC Creative is the in-house shop that is instrumental in creating the remarkable advertising need to promote a wide range of exceptional BBC programming. Its scope, range, and sheer yield are amazing, yet the group had no real identity of its own until Spin Creative devised a highly changeable, unique branding that is still visually tied to the parent box-based brand.
From a Design Week article that explains the project. “The new identity is simple yet ever-changeable. It consists of a three-dimensional, line-drawn ‘C’ shape—or an open cube—sat next to the existing BBC logo. The ‘C’ morphs, moves and changes at different angles, playing with people’s perspectives and taking on different geometric shapes.”
