Lithuanian designer Rokas Sutkaitis, who specializes in identity design, recently created a Soviet logos Instagram account which features daily updates of never-before-seen logos created in that country from roughly 1960 through 1990.
The logos are posted with what background information is available, including client, designer, and year of creation, but many of them are relative mysteries. Reduced to simple black and white and with their iconic hefty shapes, bold curves, and crisp edges, the logos reflect the time period in which they were created, but they also relate well to a common design trend today: the stripping away of unnecessary detail to reduce logos to their bare minimum.
