• Andrew Bellamy, creative director at Otherwise Collective, has released what he calls the world’s first mega-ligature, mono-spaced, multicolor shape font. Inspired by the prints of Karel Martens and 8-bit video games, the font explores “what a font can be, its purpose, potential, and how to interact with it.”

Bellamy intended for the project to be used just for fun and creative experimentation, but its potential to be used for logo creation is obvious. You can download the font for free at

• When design firm Hato created a new identity for photography brand CaptureOne, it brought in designer Calvin Kwok, who created a font based on the style of numbers that are normally seen on lenses. The new font is used throughout the new identity: in the client’s new logo, Hato uses the C and O (the client’s initials) to create the image of a twisting lens. The twisting effect is clear when set in motion, but it also is effective when stationary.
