Pentagram Projects

The New Republic has a new masthead/logo, interior design, and approach to illustration and photography. The new design is bolder and meant to convey the urgency and pace of news today.

Eddie Opara, partner at Pentagram explains the new look. “The New Republic is indicative of being intelligent, cultured and incisive, and the new identity and overall design characteristics speak verbally and visually with assertiveness, in line with its tradition of robust political, societal and cultural opinions, critiques and polemics.”

The redesigned magazine, whose last redesign was completed in-house in 2013, is now available online and the newsstand.

Two burgeoning product categories, sparkling water and CBD, come together in Fountain, an infused drink with a brand identity created by Pentagram. The logo is built on the shape of the product name’s initial “f” which is repeated to create a fountain shape. Some may also see the letters “c,” “b,” and “d” in the design. The use of Avant Garde in the wordmark lends a clean, wholesome, and semi-groovy feel.
