In what Hasbro, the new owners of the Power Rangers brand, calls a “morphinominal new look,” the now 25-year-old team of teenagers will have a new logo in 2018.
The redesign, part of a 25th-anniversary celebration, is meant to appeal to old and new fans alike. Its letters now have metallic, multi-colored highlights that reflect the colors of the many different characters in the product line.
With the 2017 Power Ranger movie and the growing popularity of cosplay and events like Comic-Con, the investment in the brand can’t be accidental. Purists will be pleased to note that the lightning bolt gets to stay.
