BMW Updates Historic Roundel

BMW has joined the growing ranks of companies that have flattened their logos in order to create a more modern look as well as to create better reproduction across all platforms. Its BMW M and BMW I subrand logos have been given the same treatment.

The familiar roundel of the main brand is actually returning to the historic roots of the 100-plus-year-old brand. Its shape and basic contents remain the same, as do the core colors of white and blue, representing the state colors of Bavaria. However, the outer circle of the logo is now open/clear, which allows the color of the vehicle to show through. So far, in non-car-body applications, a silvery metallic sheen appears in the open area.
