A New Life For an Old Church

Omse, the London-based design studio, has created a new identity for an old church that has been renovated and now serves East London as a performance and gathering space, bakery, brewery, charity, and apiary, as well as a progressive worship community.

From the Omse website: “To coincide with the completion of a multi-million pound restoration, we worked with Hackney Church to design a new identity that could flex across the breadth of their activities. From formal and often sobering occasions, to joyous celebrations.”

Using a familiar religious reference—a radius window—Omse designed a modern and adaptable logo. The church’s many activities are also represented with the arched shape, but with different interior illustration. The shape is also used as a bounding shape and frame on packaging, the organization’s website, signage, and marketing materials.
