AmeriCorps Unites Its Teams

The Corporation for National and Community Service has many well-known U.S-based volunteer organizations under its umbrella moniker, including AmeriCorps VISTA, the National Civilian Community Corps, various state and national AmeriCorps programs, SeniorCorps, and the Volunteer Generation Fund. But its own name was not at all memorable. This week, the parent organization announced that it will now be known as simply AmeriCorps. The new brand identity, completed by Brandpie (ironically, a London, UK-based firm), is meant to better communicate that the organization’s members are American volunteers who want to help others by providing education, better public health, improved nutrition, and financial security.

From a press released issued by the organization: “This logo blends the letter 'A' with an American flag to symbolize the way AmeriCorps members and volunteers inspire and improve communities through service, creating a visual representation of the agency's role in uniting Americans.” The new system is built on the new tagline, “The best of America,” and it is decidedly more modern and emotional than the previous logo, which looked somewhat like an official governmental stamp.
